StopMotion Studio Pro HD

Publisher: Cateater–Price: $0.99–Stopmotion Studio is a stop motion animation application for iOS. It includes some exciting features, like 720p HD recording, good exporting, and some powerful editing. Unfortunately, the bad final quality hold this app back. As you open the application, there is a grid with your previous projects that helps you find the project you want to work on, or create a new project. The interface when creating a project is all right (you can tweak your project from frames per second to project quality), but I didn’t understand that you had to scroll to get additional tools (I think that was a user error:). The best feature was the onion skin, which shows you the picture you just took under the picture. The interface is marginal at best, since the settings button is small and hard to touch, and the menus are not only confusing, but they also don’t give the app any visual appeal. The menu also makes the app less functional. For example, you have to open up a menu in order to go back to the project grid, or access any settings. My suggestion to the developer is to incorporate swipes, or let the user tap on the video area to bring up the settings menu. The exporting part of StopMotion Studio Pro HD is one of the better parts of the application, as it lets you easily export your project via iTunes, email, Facebook, and other internet services. Too bad the “HD” is very grainy and could barely pass for 480p on Youtube. The player that plays your final project is AirPlay compatible, which is definitely a plus. Overall, StopMotion Studio HD is a decent app for the price. It has lots of potential, but the HD is bad quality and the interface needs improvement. For the price, this app is worth a try if you are in the market for a stop motion app, which is why it gets a 7 out of 10.

      Hey there,
This was confusing for me too at first. All you have to do is tap the image, and then tap the small “+” icon towards the bottom left.
