Publisher: Polarbit AB–Price: $2.99–“Who would have thought robbing the bank would be the easy part?” is the catchphrase that essentially describes the game in a few words. You control the car that just robbed a bank, and try to get it away from the police and other obstacles in this fun arcade game. The graphics in this game were pretty darn good, to say the least. Each component of the app, be it scenery, the actual getaway vehicle, or even the app’s icon, looked great. You can either control the getaway car with accelerometer or buttons on the screen, but I found accelerometer control very tedious and difficult compared to the buttons. There is a text help page under “options” in the game, as well as a tutorial, which has you play, but guides and educates you along the way. The tutorial was very effective, and did a great job at getting me immersed in the game. There’s a good amount of levels, but you need a certain amount of stars to the next page, which makes it that much harder. The problem with this is it makes it easy to get stuck in the game, which reduces the overall replay value. I also think that as you move through the levels, you should get better getaway cars, as you are getting richer over time. Overall, Reckless Getaway is quite the game. The concept is unique, its got great graphics, and an A grade tutorial, but it could use some customization, and getting stuck can happen and puts a damper on the game (and its replay value). If you want a new arcade game with a humorous twist, you may want to check out Reckless Getaway, 8.5 out of 10.
