Publisher: BulkyPix–Price: $0.99–Pix’n Love Rush is a retro arcade game where you control a small character, and get him through levels by eating the “pluses” and shooting the minuses. The artistic quality of this game is one of the most attractive features. It has a “retro” feel, while still achieving a polished look most people want in games. The controls are at the bottom of the screen (left, right, jump, and shoot), and you can manipulate them and change where they are on screen by touching controls in the pause menu. With that said, the game didn’t really take advantage of some of the iDevice’s features, like accelerometer and swiping, to control the character. There are a couple of game modes: classic, cursed, and rainbow rush, each which have their own interesting feature. When selecting the mode in the menu, you can touch the question mark for a good tutorial on controls, objectives of the level, etc. The gameplay of this game is pretty addicting. It is sort of like a fusion between Pac man, and doodle jump, as it is retro and addicting, yet it seems like one of those games that go on forever. Pix’n Love Rush has Game Center, but I suggest a multiplayer “race” (much like in Doodle Jump), as this would raise the fun factor of the game. Overall, Pix’n Love Rush is a pretty narly game. For a buck, you get a variety of modes, and hours of entertainment, which is why it gets a 9 out of 10, Thumbs up!
