Halftone Review

Publisher: Juicy Bits–Price: $0.99–Halftone is a photo editing application that allows you to apply an aged effect to the images you choose. It has nine different styles, nine layouts, and two caption styles. The app is easy to use: all you have to do is tap the bottom left button to import some pictures or take one with a camera. Halftone instantly renders the picture with the effect, which you can then play around with, like change dot size and strength, as well as the picture’s overall blend. You can also change the captions, frame, and paper style with the touch of a button. I liked the app’s overall simplicity, but I thought that it lacked some features. Paying for an application that essentially has one effect is fine, it just needs to do more for your pictures with that one effect. One suggestion I have for Juicy Bits software is to add a mode to create comics with your photos, using the halftone effect. This would make the app much more worthwhile. The app also crashed frequently, especially when returning to it via multitasking. Overall, Halftone was still a decent app, with a good user interface, it just needs a couple touch ups. This is why the app gets an 8 out of 10 from me.
