Touchgrind Review

Publisher: Illusion Labs AB–Price: $4.99–Touchgrind is a multitouch skateboarding simulator for iPhone. Before I start reviewing the app, its description says “Skate like a pro in this first real multi-touch skateboarding game.” I can honestly say that this game is the most unique app I’ve reviewed; I’ve never seen anything like it before, which makes it all the more fun. Not only is touchgrind unique, it is well made. The scenery is crisp, the boards look realistic, and the multitouch controls are great, making it loads of fun even for people who don’t skate (like me). There are three game modes included: warm up, jam session, and competition. Warm up is to try out your tricks and see what you’ve got, jam session is where you can go to the skate park to try out your tricks (untimed), and competition is one minute where you go all out in the skate park. There are 12 boards to be unlocked in touchgrind, and they can be unlocked when you get a certain score in a competition. This app is stable, and nothing weird happened when I tested it out. Overall, I thought this app could use a bit more content (a few more boards, different skateparks), as even though the game is fun, it can seem a bit limited after a while. With that said, if you are an avid skater, five bucks is a small price to pay for this fun and unique game. 9 out of 10, Thumbs up.
