Skate It Review

Publisher: Electronic Arts — Price:$0.99 — Skate It is an app that depicts you as the player in a skating environment in which there are many different settings, all of which have different obstacles and objects that create a variety in the game. The controls are not very intuitive, but they are alright once you get used to the gameplay and the feel of the game. You move by holding down a button and you change directions by tilting your iPod/iPhone. You can perform tricks by drawing shapes. In the help menu, there are specific tricks that are equipped with instructions to help you learn those specific tricks. There are two modes, a career mode and a freeskate mode. In career mode, you can customize your avatar. In career mode, you start off with tutorials, and from them you complete challenges such as beating a set number of points, and performing tricks that are allotted. This app honestly does not have a great user interface, but since it is a game, that is not really the main aspect of a game. The game itself is actually quite fun to play, but occasionally it gets monotonous. ¬†Also, the graphics are less than decent as the last update was on ¬†October 23rd 2010. Overall, this game is quite fun, but it gets boring eventually and the graphics do not help the games case. Because of the resulting factors, I give this a seven out of 10.
